Grand Prix 3130 chair is designed by Arne Jacobsen for Fritz Hansen with shell in pressure moulded veneer and base in steel tubes with 4 legs, mounted with black support spacers, a black cover cap and black synthetic leg ferrules.
The chair is available 2 different natural veneers - Oak and Walnut - and in 16 different colours in the versions coloured or lacquered ash. The white shell can be combined also with white legs.
Introduced at the Designers’ Spring Exhibition at the Danish Museum of Art & Design in 1957 as "Modèle 130", the Grand Prix chair was displayed, later that year, at the Milan Triennale and, on this very occasion, it won the finest distinction of the exhibition - the Grand Prix prize - hence its current name.
It is a chair with graphic edge, elegant, linear and stylish; it is also very lightweight, durable and robust, also features the convenience of stacking.
The 3130 chair comes in both a steel or wood base and can be customised through a series of colours, wood types and upholstery.
As for many other chair designed by Arne jacobsen, the legs extended just beyond the edge of the seat and a linking device allows chairs to be easily arranged in rows and to be used in auditorium or theatres.
