Claudio Salocchi (1934-2012) was one of the most visionary protagonists of Italian design, with a career spanning more than 50 years of cultural, technological and artistic transformation. A graduate in Architecture from the Milan Polytechnic, Salocchi was able to combine innovation with functionality, creating iconic pieces that redefined the concept of contemporary furniture.
His work stood out especially in the 1960s and 1970s, when he collaborated with emerging companies such as Sormani, Skipper and Lumenform, helping to transform the design landscape with creations such as the “Paione” modular sofa, the “Lia” chair and the “Ri-flessione” lamp. His research on aluminum alloys, prefabrication and domestic ergonomics was pioneering, culminating in the celebrated “Metrosistema,” awarded the Compasso d'Oro in 1979.
Salocchi worked with a comprehensive approach involving architecture, contemporary art and interior design, always striving to create a balance between form and function. His anticipatory vision and connection to art and craftsmanship have influenced generations of designers, making his designs timeless and always relevant to the needs of modern living.
