Palla armchair is designed by Claudio Salocchi and reissued by Acerbis with a solid wooden frame padded with molded polyurethane foam of varying densities and upholstered in fabric. Base comes in either matte graphite grey painted ABS or polished chrome steel. Available in both fixed and swivel versions, with an optional matching ottoman.
Originally created by Claudio Salocchi in the vibrant, experimental spirit of the 1960s, the Palla armchair is a true under-the-radar revolution in the world of furniture design. First unveiled in 1969 at the eighth edition of the Salone del Mobile in Milan, this seat already embodied a bold, forward-thinking idea: to redefine the concept of relaxation by breaking away from traditional forms and expectations.
Salocchi began with the elementary shape of a sphere and deconstructed its geometry, transforming it into a unified structure that seamlessly connects chair and ottoman in a visually and functionally harmonious whole. The result is a fluid dialogue between upper and lower forms—a balanced interplay of sculptural elegance and generous comfort. Its cocooning shell, obsessively refined in every detail, invites pause and repose, turning each moment of rest into a playful yet sophisticated experience.
Today, the Palla armchair joins the Remasters collection by Acerbis, a contemporary line that faithfully preserves the original design intent. The expressive strength of the piece remains untouched, renewing the dialogue between aesthetics and function and reaffirming its bold ability to resonate across eras without losing an ounce of its distinctive character.
