4 Chaise Longue à Réglage Continu, 60 is designed by Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret e Charlotte Perriand for Cassina, is a continuously adjustable reclining lounge chair with a black lacquered steel base. Frame in tubular steel in a glossy red, blue, or green finish, while the self-supporting saddle leather seat is available in burgundy, blue, or green, with a matching leather headrest. The cradle is supported by either elastic webbing or nickel-plated steel springs.
An enduring icon of modern design, the 4 Chaise Longue à Réglage Continu was born from the visionary collaboration between Le Corbusier, Jeanneret, and Perriand in the late 1920s, and was first presented at the Salon d’Automne in Paris in 1929. This haute repose armchair immediately stood out for its perfect harmony between geometric rigor and ergonomic comfort—so much so that Le Corbusier famously described it as a “true machine for resting”. The tilting mechanism allows for smooth, continuous adjustment, intuitively adapting to the user’s body weight and shape. The result is a state of total relaxation in which the chaise becomes almost an extension of the body, providing both support and a gentle cradle. This embodies the human-centered design philosophy of the trio, with its deep focus on physical well-being and ergonomic integrity.
In 1964, Cassina acquired the exclusive production rights for the LC4 model, officially launching it in 1965. Now, in 2025, Cassina celebrates 60 years of uninterrupted production with a special anniversary edition: 4 Chaise Longue à Réglage Continu 60, part of the iMaestri collection. This commemorative version honors the piece’s legacy, preserving its proportions and timeless purity of form, while introducing a new material and chromatic identity. The structure is offered in three sophisticated tone-on-tone variations, paired with a premium self-supporting saddle leather cover, attached to the cradle with steel springs. This configuration offers a striking visual clarity, precise lines, and an exceptionally refined tactile experience.
The “60” edition will be available exclusively until September 30, 2026, offering design enthusiasts and collectors a rare opportunity to own a timeless piece—an elegant fusion of history, functionality, and everyday artistry.
