VLA77 sofa is designed by Vilhelm Theodor Lauritzen for Carl Hansen & Søn with frame in solid oak in soap, oil or smoked oil finishing; seat and back upholstered with foam padding and fabric or leather cover.
The VLA77 sofa is included in the Foyer series designed in 1945 to adorn the magnificent foyer of the Copenhagen’s Radiohuset, home of the national Danish broadcaster Danmarks Radio. The series, which also includes the VLA76 armchair and the VLA75 bench, has been reintroduced in 2022 after a close collaboration between Carl Hansen & Son and Vilhelm Lauritzen Architects. The sofa pays great respect to the original design that makes it timeless, but it has been adapted to the present and it is proposed in oak with a new cover proposal. The seat is characterized by a unique interplay between the oak frame, assembled from three parts and hand-polished, and the upholstered seats and backrests, which seem almost floating.
