Intervista armchair is designed by Lella and Massimo Vignelli for Poltrona Frau with a steel frame, molded polyurethane foam padding, and Pelle Frau® ColorSphere®, Nest, or Soulful Impact Less leather upholstery.
In the late 1980s, Italian public broadcaster RAI commissioned Lella and Massimo Vignelli to redesign the set of its news program. The innovation went beyond aesthetics: it marked a radical shift in television’s visual language, moving from the traditional close-up of the “talking head” to full-body framing. Within this context, the Intervista armchair was born—a creation that reinterprets the classic pozzetto typology, standing out for its balance between stage presence and absolute comfort.
The Intervista armchair was conceived to embrace guests during broadcasts, with particular attention to posture to ensure the natural tone of voice is preserved. The result is an armchair that makes guests feel at ease, secure, and free to speak naturally.
Its design combines a refined silhouette with a strong scenic presence—qualities essential for an object conceived specifically for television.
