The Continuum D.163.7 armchair is designed by Gio Ponti and riedited by Molteni with a structure in hand-curved, steam-bent manao wood without bark and a hand-woven seat in rattan, with bindings in flat rattan with an aniline or lacquered finish. The seat is padded with high-density polyurethane with differentiated thickness, padded with polyester fiber wadding, combined with cotton-polyester fiber, and upholstered in fabric or leather.
The design of the Continuum is inspired by the elegant bergère chairs created in the early 1950s for prestigious hotels and luxurious cruise ships. Today, this masterpiece is part of the precious permanent collection of the Triennale Design Museum, and with this project, Molteni&C renews its commitment to preserving and promoting the legacy of Gio Ponti, working closely with the Gio Ponti Archives. Bonacina, renowned for its 135 years of history in the Italian craftsmanship landscape, adds a touch of excellence to the project, thanks to its unique and eclectic style. The company distinguishes itself for its high-quality standards, achieved through the use of precious materials and carefully curated production processes, in perfect harmony with the sustainability policy shared by both companies.
