Maxalto on Classicdesign.it
Maxalto embodies a vision of interior design that blends artisanal tradition with contemporary architectural culture. Founded in 1975 by Piero Ambrogio Busnelli and shaped in its early years by the sensitivity of Afra and Tobia Scarpa, the brand is rooted in solid wood craftsmanship and in the pursuit of “higher” quality, as its name suggests. From the very beginning, its mission has been to create furniture that expresses cultured elegance through harmonious proportions, precious materials and masterfully executed details.
Since 1993, the artistic direction of Antonio Citterio has defined a refined, coherent and instantly recognisable design language. His interpretation of the “modern classic” draws inspiration from early 20th‑century French design and the European bourgeois tradition. Collections such as the Lucrezia Soft sofas, Pathos tables, Febo seating and the Heritage Perspective line shape complete environments designed to accompany everyday life with comfort, balance and a discreet yet unmistakable beauty.
Alongside the most recent creations, the works of the Scarpa duo remain iconic—testaments to an approach that reinterpreted Italian cabinet‑making techniques with a modern sensibility. Today, Maxalto continues to stand out for its ability to merge craftsmanship and innovation, offering furnishings that transcend time without losing their identity: sofas, armchairs, storage pieces and accessories that transform any interior into a warm, sophisticated and deeply personal space.
