The Hémicycle sofa is designed by Philippe Nigro for Ligne Roset with matte black lacquered metal base, a plywood panels seat structure, backrest and armrests with two linked mechanically-soldered frames, all finished with high-resilience Bultex foam and polyester wadding, with fabric upholstery. The sofa can also be configured in a two-tone version by combining the same fabric in two different colors, or in a bi-material version by combining the Vidar or Capa fabric with leather on the back. Available in three models: linear sofa, vis-à-vis, or confident.
The Hémicycle seating collection was designed by Philippe Nigro with the aim of participating in the Mobilier National. The project, in which Pierre Paulin had already participated from 1971 with Elysée and Pumpkin, aims to furnish government buildings and to embody French design at the point of innovation. The name of the collection e - Hémicycle – may seem to evoke the shape of the Assemblée Nationale, a branch of the French parliament, which is housed in the Palais Bourbon however, it was also chosen for its completely different geometrical connotation. The collection is characterized by a welcoming design and a great visual impact. The seats appear to be formed by two different structures which, when overlapping, create a comfortable and compact two-seater sofa, a vis-à-vis solution, or an unusual solution, which was symbolic of the Second Empire, and enabled one to hold a conversation without turning one’s head. Hémicycle is a design sofa suitable for use in institutions, but also the most contemporary traditional homes. The collection is completed by an armchair that can be accompanied or not with a matching ottoman.
