Trinidad chair is designed by Nanna Ditzel for Fredericia with frame of steel tube in chrome, black or flint finishing and moulded plywood, in a range of top veneer woods, with CNC-milled cutouts; seat and back mounted with rivets. Available with or without armrests and with or without non-removable seat pad in high resilience foam and fabric or leather cover.
Trinidad is a seat system inspired by the picturesque and traditional home that Nanna Ditzel had seen in Trinidad; in the wood part of the chair you can actually detect the elaborate inlay of those colonial architecture and the same interplay of light and shadows that creates a pattern projected into space and provides a delicate sense of motion.
In these chairs the ornamentation is the focal point; it need the most advanced CNC technology to be made and it has not only as a decorative function: the cut-outs lighten the visual density of the chair, ensures a good ventilation to the body of the users and provides excellent acoustics where sound resonance should be reduced.
That's why it has become a popular choice for concert halls and auditoriums, as well as private homes.
The Trinidad Chair represents a Post-Modernism milestone in the history of plywood chairs and it keeps a captivating appeal that continues to resonate with the contemporary design enthusiasts around the world.
