Mogensen Coupé Sofa is designed by Børge Mogensen for Fredericia with frame in solid wood, fixed legs built into the hardwood internal frame and seat support in jute and rubber webbing. Body upholstered with HR foam and cushions with foam and feather, covered with leather or fabric with cotton core piping in all stitches.
Seat and back cushions covered on both sides when upholstered in fabric or with hessian backing when in leather; neck cushions attached with metal buttons; all cushions covered with removable upholstery. One loose decorative cushion included.
The Coupé Sofa is an elegant two seater sofa, designed in 1971 with high, cushioned back and wings on either side, probably inspired by the distinctive British Hall Porters chair designed to capture heat from the typical open fireplaces that characterized the housing of the past.
Each sofa is made by hand, involving expert craftsmanship skills and reflecting Mogensen's persistence on the highest quality materials and intransigent approach to comfort; the sturdy construction and soft angle backwards allow you to sit upright while still relaxed. It is popularly named Coupé Sofa because, just like the comfortable seats in first-class train coupés, it encloses you and gives intimacy, allowing you to withdraw from the world and enjoy a good book.
