Braidense bookcase is designed by Antonio Citterio for Flexform with structure in canaletto walnut with a raw-wood effect finish, ash stained ebony, or oak with a raw-wood effect finish. Internal compartments in metal with epoxy powder-coat finish and base in metal with epoxy powder-coat finish in the same color as the internal compartments. Adjustable feet. Available in three sizes.
The Braidense bookcase embodies the elegance of restraint, combining formal rigor, premium materials, and masterful craftsmanship in perfect harmony. Its solid wooden frame, defined by generous thickness, conveys a sense of strength and presence. Folded sheet metal display units disrupt the symmetry of the shelves, introducing a sophisticated contrast of textures. The pared-down, almost austere design finds its highest expression in the refined finishes and carefully balanced proportions.
Inspired by the Braidense National Library of Milan—founded in 1770 by Empress Maria Theresa of Austria—the bookcase pays tribute to a landmark of Italian culture. Housed in the historic Palazzo di Brera, the Braidense Library is one of Italy’s most important public libraries, known for its rich collection of manuscripts and its association with iconic figures such as Alessandro Manzoni.
The Braidense collection includes three standalone modules, designed to adapt effortlessly to any home interior. A wide range of wood veneer options and multiple metal finishes expand its expressive potential. Fully finished on all sides and free-standing, the bookcase also serves as an elegant room divider, bringing structure and personality to any space.
