Guglielmo Ulrich (1904-1977) was an Italian architect and designer of Danish origin. He studied at the Brera Academy and graduated in Architecture from the Polytechnic University of Milan in 1928. In 1930, he founded the company Arca (Arredamento Casa) together with Scaglia and Wild, distinguishing himself for the creation of furniture with an elegant and meticulously crafted design, often made with exotic and luxurious materials.
In the 1930s and 1940s, he collaborated with important manufacturers such as Scaglia, Jannace, and Kovacs, contributing to the evolution of interior design in Italy. After World War II, he participated in several editions of the Milan Triennale and designed furnishings for shops, offices, and ships, demonstrating a versatile and sophisticated approach.
In the 1960s, he cautiously approached the world of industrial production while maintaining a constant pursuit of high-level aesthetics. In 1961, he won first prize at the Trieste Fair competition with a chair produced by Saffa. His work ranges from furniture design to architecture, always maintaining a stylistic coherence aimed at excellence.
His legacy in Italian design is that of a creator capable of combining artisanal tradition with innovation, making a significant contribution to 20th-century design.
