Asolo table is designed by Angelo Mangiarotti for Agapecasa with two "slots" in which two slabs / uprights of the same thickness are inserted; the vertical locking of the top is determined by the trapezoidal shape of the uprights, the inclination of these increases the stability of the table. Made in different sizes, in white Carrara marble, black Marquina, gray Carnico, green Alpi and Emperador dark, with two inclined trapezoidal supports.
Asolo is the third milestone of Angelo Mangiarotti's research on gravity joints. It is based on the experience of Eros (1971) and Incas (1978). The project explores the physical and mechanical characteristics of the materials by focusing on the exceptional qualities of granite, originally used here as the only material. In Asolo the contact area is further reduced compared to Incas and the leg is reduced to almost two dimensions and any part that is not structurally involved is canceled. The "mating" surface is the minimum allowed by the material. Asolo means "eyelet" in Italian. In fact, two eyelets, in which to fit two uprights of the same thickness; the vertical locking is caused by the trapezoidal shape of the legs which are also inclined to increase the stability of the whole.
