Sheraton sideboard designed by Giotto Stoppino, Lodovico Acerbis for Acerbis with a glossy lacquered frame, doors and top; inner drawer in dark walnut essence, clear glass shelves and chromed metal frames. Available with or without internal light and additional internal drawers (max 3).
The Sheraton sideboard is a timeless design icon that transcends fashions and trends, embodying the essence of simplicity and formal purity. First created in 1977, the Sheraton revolutionized the concept of furniture, introducing a perfect balance between a closed, essential and rigorous element and an open, versatile and functional one, maintaining impeccable linearity even with sliding doors.
Its main innovation lies in the integration of the “sliding-hinged’” opening system, a novel mechanism that merges sliding and hinged opening, allowing practical use without compromising aesthetics. This combination represents the perfect synthesis of form and function, an innovation that reflects the pioneering approach of Giotto Stoppino and Lodovico Acerbis, two leading figures in Italian design.
In 1979, the Sheraton won the prestigious Compasso d'Oro, the highest award in industrial design, consolidating its status as a masterpiece and later becoming part of the permanent collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, an international temple of art and design.
In 2021, Acerbis reintroduced this celebrated piece of furniture, revisiting it with a contemporary approach. The sliding opening system has been modernized to provide greater fluidity and precision, while a range of new colors and finishes, along with an interior lighting system, give the Sheraton an even more modern and refined look. This redesign not only pays homage to the original design, but further enhances its functionality and ability to adapt to contemporary living contexts, confirming its position as an undisputed icon of international design.
