Ipanema sofa is designed by Didier Gomez for Ligne Roset with structure of armrest and backrest in mechanically-soldered tubular steel clad in Bultex foam and polyester quilting. Structure of seat in majority multi-ply clad in polyether foam and polyester quilting.
Matt black round legs Ø 50mm, H 30mm, concealed beneath the structure. Suspension of seat via elastic webbing.
Seat cushion in high resilience Bultex foam and quilting. Structure of seat clad in polyester quilting. Comfort of backrest provided by a combination of feather-filled cushions: Large cushions filled with new duck feathers (10% down / 90% feathers); Small cushions (58x58cm) filled with new duck feathers (15% feathers).
Fabric version has removable covers; covers of leather version are fixed.
This model is inspired by the ceramic pavements of Ipanema – the celebrated beach in Rio de Janeiro – with its curved design by Roberto Burle Marx, the great Brazilian architect, renowned the world over for his park and garden designs. It was he who introduced modernist landscape architecture to Brazil. Didier Gomez also draws inspiration from Oscar Niemeyer, one of the most celebrated Brazilian architects and designers.
From the settee to the ‘Canalounge’, via a 1-arm settee, these elements have been devised to offer the maximum possible comfort.
