Karelia armchair is designed by Liisi Beckmann for Zanotta with double density polyurethane foam frame and external removable cover in bielastic Samba fabric.
Two or more modules can now be joined together with hooks on the feet to create a continu-ous undulating seat.
The Karelia armchair was one of the novelties presented by Zanotta at 2022 Milano Design Week Salone del Mobile 2022; after an update in terms of size and an improvement in structure, it has been back in production. Designed by the Finnish Liisi Beckmann, this 60’s pop icon is inspired by the Finnish region where the designer was born; the characteristic wave-like surface of the seat in fact recalls the Republic of Karelia in Finland an intact land, indented by creeks, gulfs and lakes.
The new diagonal weave coating, replaces the vinyl of the 1970s and enhances the shapes of the armchair, it fits the body of the seat perfectly and follows very well the deformation and the reshaping of the object. Iridescent and contemporary in its colour choices, the fabric produces a strong colour variation given by movement and light.
The Karelia armchair embodies in itself the free and experimental language of the Sixties and Seventies, a sculptural furniture that absolutely does not show his fifty years.
