Fenice Table design by Piero Bottoni for Zanotta with frame in Polimex® a new material made by the combination of compatible and recoverable materials, Polimex® is itself recyclable. Certified Class 1-IM, it is fire-proof and it reduces the possibility for fire burning. The frame is covered with acryl finish cement with protective titanium dioxide nanotech stain-resistant treatment, in the shade of white|grey.
Fenice is a re-edition of the table designed by Piero Bottoni in 1936 for Villa Muggia. Originally made from concrete cast on-site and firmly anchored to the floor of the dining room, Zanotta has remade the table with new materials to take advantage of new technology, making it more appropriate for contemporary living but respecting the original design The Fenice was the first modern table with a central leg, designed 20 years before than the famous Tulip Table by Saarinen.
The extreme version of the this project was 4 metres in length and it was exhibited at the IX Triennale of Milan in 1951, as demonstration of the capabilities of Italian craftsman. It survives only as a scaled model within the Archivio Bottoni.
