GranTorino sofa designed by Jean-Marie Massaud for Poltrona Frau with seat frame in tubular metal with interwoven elastic belts, backrest and armrests are crafted from birch plywood padded with polyurethane foam and polyester wadding. Seat cushions available in two comfort options: Soft Comfort, with goose down and polyester wadding around a stabilizing polyurethane core, or Firm Comfort, with polyester wadding and a polyurethane insert. Backrest cushions come in either horizontally sectioned goose down chambers or a polyester and polyurethane blend, enhanced with viscoelastic foam for added support. Titanium-finished aluminium feet with protective plastic caps.
Armrests and backrests are upholstered in leather or saddle-leather, while cushions can be covered in either leather or fabric. A two-color version is also available, combining two shades of the same ColorSphere®, Nest, or Soulful leather collection for added depth and customization.
Available Armrest:
- High, in leather or saddle-leather. In the saddle-leather version, the covering wraps entirely around the inward-curving armrest, accented with stainless steel rivets engraved with the Poltrona Frau logo.
- Flat, in leather or saddle-leather. Fixed at a 90° angle with angular metal brackets.
- Medium, in leather to match the frame or fabric to match the seat and backrest cushions.
- Low, in leather to match the frame or fabric to match the cushions.
- Low equipped armrest (optional Box) in saddle-leather available exclusively in saddle-leather matching the structure. The top panel opens to reveal a storage compartment lined in ecru cotton canvas and includes a sliding tray in natural oak.
- SOFT Low armrest with storage – fitted with a flip-top panel that opens to a storage compartment lined in black Alcantara and equipped with a removable sliding accessory tray. Both the top panel and tray are crafted from ash wood stained Wengé or Moka.

The saddle-leather, meticulously cut and shaped by hand, follows the sofa’s structural lines with precision, emphasizing its geometric contours with a refined yet bold aesthetic. A variety of armrest styles provides multiple functional and decorative options. Notably, the low armrest can conceal a practical storage compartment—enhanced in the new 2025 version with a refined container box in Moka- or Wengé-stained ash, clad in matching external leather for a heightened material richness.
GranTorino combines understated, balanced volumes with exceptionally inviting seating. From 2025, seat padding has evolved into a dual-density Soft + Firm configuration, surpassing the original goose-down fill—which remains available exclusively for backrest cushions. This innovation delivers the ideal blend of enveloping softness and calibrated support, while preserving the sofa’s visual structure over time. Horizontal stitching on the backrest cushions adds a touch of lightness and definition to the overall design.
Available in full Pelle Frau® leather or refined multi-material combinations, GranTorino now includes the new Pelle Frau® Motif Knits finish—an elegant three-dimensional woven-effect print for high armrests and backrests, offered in four sophisticated tones: Deep Lavender, Sesame, Paprika, and Grey Salt.
