Albero bookcase is designed by Gianfranco Frattini for Poltrona Frau with solid Canaletto walnut wood structure. Two toothed supports, with a special rack joint, and four vertical pillars with regular holes drilling that allows to assemble the 12 shelves in MDF veneered with Canaletto walnut. Brass screws. Ferrules and cup in antiqued burnished steel. The upper ferrule is inserted into a "cup" anchored to the ceiling, while the bottom ferrule secures the structure to the ground with a slip-resistant rubber. The bookcase is secured in position by four adjustable metal locknuts in the fi xing ferrules. A leather pad for the shelves is also available.
"Albero" is formally situated within the Neoliberty period and is typologically distinguished as one of the floor-to-ceiling bookshelf systems that saw widespread popularity in the 1950s and '60s. The structure, conceived by Gianfranco Frattini, stands out for two main aspects: on one hand, the complex and refined woodworking craftsmanship; on the other, the sculptural use of the bookshelf as a central element in a living space. A distinctive feature of the bookshelf is its ability to rotate 360° around its axis, adding dynamism and flexibility to the environment where it is placed. Additionally, the lower notched pillar is laser-etched with the designer's signature and the Poltrona Frau logo, elements that attest to its authenticity and artisanal quality.
