Sciara table is designed by Marella Ferrera for Paola Lenti with structure made of délabré finished stainless steel with plastic spacers and top composed of a support base made of aluminium honeycomb and tiles made of lava stone, which are cut by hand and decorated with melted glass: the tiles are unique pieces and are selected to be combined together according to aesthetic criteria suggested by the colour shades obtained.
The Sciara series includes side tables available in different dimensions. The Délabré finish of the structure is made by De Castelli on an exclusivity basis.
Volcanic basalt, the volcanic magma which, once solidified, is traditionally called “sciara” in Sicily. Lava is resistant, long-lasting and does not require particular care.
The original outcome originates from the creativity of the company merged with the production technique of Nerosicilia. Because of the different production phases, each Sciara table is different from the others.
The modern mosaics of Marella Ferrera interpret the traditional through abstract designs, which are different each time. The large surfaces of the dining tables allow the freedom of playing with colour and its unpredictable shades, which result from handicraft techniques, making way for creativity. Patterns arise spontaneously from the matter itself. Tesserae in different dimensions give rhythm and pace to the composition.
