Concreto table is designed by Francesco Rota for Paola Lenti with outdoor surfaces made from a blend of limestone and clay. Top consisting of five elements resting on the base, aligned and held in place by steel references on the structure and bases connected by a shiny ivory or graphite painted stainless steel frame. Available in two finishes: Seres with pastel shades with a gradient effect or in Lias decorated with a modern handcrafted ceramic micro-mosaic.
The imposing dimensions, evident solidity, and significant volumes of this furniture converge under a name that perfectly captures its character: Concreto. The table and bench stand almost as works of art, transforming functionality into aesthetics. Originally inspired by Nerikomi, an ancient Japanese decorative technique, the artist worked together with the artisan to radically transform the approach to traditional mosaic. Comprising five modular elements making up the top and resting on bases reflecting the same thicknesses and geometries. Each module is shaped from a blend of limestone, clay, aggregates, and pigments, creating a technical material designed to withstand outdoor elements. This material has undergone numerous experiments resulting in two distinctive variants: a more essential one characterized by gradient color generated by movements during processing, and a decorated one called Lias.
The primary finish offers a range of shades from blush pink to dusty blue, while the hand-polished surface feels velvety to the touch. Lias, on the other hand, is adorned with ceramic tiles, cut and worked manually using the traditional Nerikomi technique by Simona Sporchia. These tiles are integrated into the base material in patterns of pairings or tone contrasts specifically designed for each variant, reflecting the distinctive color sensitivity that characterizes Paola Lenti's creations.
Like many of Paola Lenti's collections, the uniqueness of these works lies in the exclusive craftsmanship of the materials. Each piece is meticulously handmade, ensuring that no other piece of furniture is identical.
