Clay armchair is designed by Zanellato e Bortotto for Moroso with a base in MDF veneered in oak and canaletto walnut, and a structure crafted from plywood and solid fir with molded polyurethane padding, and removable fabric cover. The backrest features a hand-glazed ceramic plate, available in various colors and configurable in two orientations.
The Clay Moroso armchair is a work of contemporary design that tells an ancient story through the dialogue of materials and extraordinary artisanal techniques.
Its silhouette is defined by soft, enveloping forms that invite relaxation, yet the true surprise lies in the backrest, which opens like a small painting, where the ceramic emerges in three-dimensional form, set within a refined textile context. The glazed ceramic panel is handcrafted in the historic ceramics district of Nove, near Vicenza. Each tile is decorated with precious glazes and finishes, making every piece unique and transforming the armchair into a functional sculpture.
The project stems from an in-depth exploration of ceramics as an expressive medium, bringing attention to skills and techniques that are now nearly lost in modern production.
The Clay armchair combines carefully considered proportions, tailored comfort, and authentic materials, offering not only a comfortable seating experience but also an iconic piece of furniture for interiors seeking an exclusive, visually striking element.
