Description

The D.154.2 armchair is designed by Gio Ponti and riedited by Molteni&C with internal structure in steel tubes and profiles with padding in flexible polyurethane foam and seat cushion in flexible polyurethane foam, cover in waterproof polyester fibre, with fabric cover. External structure in high-density polyurethane resin anthracite or ivory, feet in painted stainless steel with ferrules in plastic material.

 

One of the most iconic and representative pieces of Gio Ponti, designed in 1954 for the Planchart collector’s villa in Caracas (1953-57), made in a special version suitable for outdoor use. The precious original design of the D.154.2 has been respected: a wrap-around armchair with a sinuous profile, characterised by a rigid yet cosy shell juxtaposed with a soft upholstered counter frame. The essence of the chair originates from the subtle play of curved lines and the harmonious contrast between rigid and soft elements that make it timeless.
