Tense Material Heritage table is designed by Piergiorgio & Michele Cazzaniga for MDF Italia with steel legs and internal structural tie-rod. Top in load-bearing composite panel made from an internal aluminium profile frame and a polystyrene filling. Natural or black-stained oak finish with transparent acrylic surface finish. Edges and legs covered with 3 mm thick solid wood.
The latest addition to the Tense family, a table designed in 2009 by Piergiorgio and Michele Cazzaniga, marks a return to its roots with the revival of an ancient artisanal tradition. The new Tense Material Heritage features a tabletop made of wood, finished with a handcrafted technique called "sgorbiatura". This technique involves carving the wood irregularly to create a wavy effect, offering a unique tactile experience. This meticulous process, which takes several hours for each table, is combined with a frame that represents technological and industrial innovation, allowing the table to reach considerable dimensions.
The refined artisanal craftsmanship of the tabletops can result in variations in the wood's finish and tone. Any visual irregularities, nuances, and the non-uniformity of the surface and color of the material are not defects but distinctive characteristics that add value and uniqueness to each piece.
