Petite Coiffeuse dressing table of 1929 is designed by Eileen Gray for ClassiCon with frame in chrome-plated tubular steel, tabletop with linoleum surface, black on one side and grey on the other, with solid beech edging, foldable for use in two different heights.
Eileen Gray understood how to combine the aesthetic with the practical as did few designers. The geometrically structured small dressing table, designed for her summerhouse E1027, is a proof of this. The drawers in the small side box of the Petite Coiffeuse swivel out. Everything is reduced to the essentials, but it is all within easy reach.
Eileen Gray’s achievement in design and architecture is considered pioneering work of Modernism. During her lifetime, she was honoured by the London Royal Society for Arts with the title Royal Designer for Industry, and she is one of few women mentioned in the same breath as Le Corbusier, Mies van der Rohe and Marcel Breuer. ClassiCon produces her iconic furniture designs as the sole and rightful licensee worldwide, in coordination with Aram Designs Ltd., London.
