Red and Blue lounge chair is designed by Gerrit T. Rietveld for Cassina with frame in black stained beech with blue seat and red back in lacquered multiplywood.
It's also available a cushion for seat and back cover in fabric or leather.
The Red and Blue armchair is an iconic model designed by Gerrit T. Rietveld in 1918 and it represents an expression of neoplasticism whereby the theoretical act of construction using a combination of the vertical and the horizontal, or two primary colours, is aesthetically pleasing.
This model functioned as a basic reference point to express the new Modernist language through a construction code that could express the elements of composition by overlapping rather than intersecting them. Lines and planes are organized on a vertical-horizontal basis where space filters freely through, blurring the delineation between the inside and the outside. The colour sets a dematerialisation process in motion to enhance the vertical-horizontal relationship of the straight lines in a composition that frames the red and blue rectangles of the back and seat. Each element exists independently, although directly linked to the other elements in space: the back and seat axes overlap in all three directions without ever intersecting.
