The chaise longue 546 Indochine is designed by Charlotte Perriand for Cassina with a tubular steel structure composed of three curved segments, connected together by fixing elements which, intersecting, give shape to the aerodynamic silhouette. The mattress has padding made of recycled PET fiber with a quilted texture from a topstitch, and a removable covering in fabric or nabuk leather. The supporting feet are made of black plastic material.
The iconic Indochine was born in November 1943 in Indochina, where the designer Perriand was confined to bed during the last months of pregnancy. The intention was to create a chaise longue with armrests to allow reading, writing, and drawing in complete relaxation. Today, Perriand's daughter, Pernette Perriand-Barsac, reissues this project in collaboration with Cassina, with a footprint of sustainability that respects the essence of the original project. This reissue not only highlights the deep reflection behind design objects but also a vision of living that can adapt to changing times. In this way, the historical memory of design is preserved and transmitted, adapting it to the contemporary world.
