Fratino table designed by Jeff Miller for Baleri Italia with aluminium base composed by two shell-cast pediments spanned by an extruded elliptical beam and tempered glass top. Top d. 350 cm with natural mahogany solid wood top, made from a single tree trunk and naturally treated. The base structure can be turned upside-down and used with the central beam in a high position by simply switching the feet and top-supports.
Fratino represents an innovative contemporary reinterpretation of the homonymous table, also called monk's table, originated in medieval monasteries. Originally known for its elongated shape and characteristic wooden reinforcements at the bottom, Fratino retains the charm of tradition while reinterpreting it through cutting-edge materials and design. The structure is distinguished by a base composed of two mirrored aluminum castings joined by an elliptical section beam. This configuration offers a perfect balance between strength and visual lightness. The transparent glass top enhances the fluidity of the lines, highlighting the continuity between the components, while the variant with a wooden top celebrates the historical roots of the table, adding warmth and character.
The real innovation of Fratino lies in its versatility: the base can be flipped over, allowing the crosspiece to be placed on top. This simple gesture transforms the design, creating a new, different but equally harmonious and original configuration that amplifies the product's personality.
