Originally created for the interior of the renowned K5 boutique hotel in Tokyo, designed by architecture studio Claesson Koivisto Rune, the Drop Paper pendant light embodies a seamless synthesis of contemporary design and age-old Japanese craftsmanship. Its lampshade is made from precious Echizen washi paper—a noble material backed by over 1,500 years of history, traditionally used for large-scale elements of Japanese interior design such as byobu folding screens and fusuma sliding doors. Crafted from the long, resilient fibers of the Japanese mulberry tree, the paper imparts a warm, enveloping glow that fills spaces with subtle harmony.
