Souvenir d'Italie sofa is designed by Ludovica + Roberto Palomba for Poltrona Frau with an aluminum frame composed of three bed frame boards with an oval section and zamak ends, joined by connecting casings and crossbars; embossed powdercoated epoxy available in chalk or basalt. Suspension system made of visible elastic belts offered in ecru or taupe finishes. Back cushions filled with polyester fiber, while seat and armrest cushions are padded with open-cell polyurethane foam of varying densities and are water-draining. Removable upholstery available in leather or fabric. The sofa comes in two sizes.
The name “Souvenir d’Italie” pays tribute to the 1957 film by Antonio Pietrangeli, an homage to the reborn Italy of that era—its art, its natural beauty, and the enduring inspiration it offers to contemporary design.
At the heart of the collection, this sofa—also available in a large version—is complemented by a matching coffee table offered in two sizes. The Souvenir d’Italie sofa stands out for its visual lightness and relaxed comfort, featuring generous proportions and a refined, essential design that reinterprets two great classics of outdoor furniture: metal and woven straps. The polypropylene fiber bands trace a dynamic interplay of solids and voids across the seat and backrest, creating a sense of transparency and suspension, enhanced by slender die-cast aluminum legs.
The extruded aluminum frame features oval beams forming an elegant L-shape, wrapped in the rhythmic weave of the belts. The ample cushions, reminiscent of soft mattresses, are accentuated by raised edging that outlines their silhouette and rest directly on the frame, leaving the weave beneath partially visible.
The armrests, reduced to two essential cylinders, evoke the spirit of garden benches and complete a design that blends functionality, lightness, and understated elegance.
