For 2009, the project research of the brand is pushed towards operational and executive spaces that are more personal and eclectic, an elegant and refined blend of atmospheres where high-tech accents, Art Déco mannerisms and a return to the more marked consistence of solid wood coexist in equilibrium, to satisfy the tastes of a curious client base that loves to mix and match, even in the working environment.
Three years since the birth of Homework, the Porro collection for office use conceived by Piero Lissoni by transforming some of the brand’s proposals for the home - rethought and redesigned ad hoc first are the systems for the day zone and second other pieces of the collections, such as tables and bookcases, to adapt them to the different use by means of new accessories and proportions - Porro confirms the commitment made and relaunches the challenge, also in this case working mainly on surfaces.
The best properties of resistance to wear, to scratches and chemical agents, characterise the new compositions of Modern work, the system of storage units for the office created by revisiting the Modern system for the home.
New interiors made of HDS, a new generation material that is the product of interior research, make it even more suited to intensive and prolonged use over time, without foregoing the aesthetic quality of those who choose Porro design as a reference for their own living spaces.
This new material is proposed on the lower floor in a white horizontal storage unit (L. 5600 X D.45 X H. 120cm) where five closed bays, which conceal the new suspension file holders in aluminium colour finish, are combined with two modules with open shelves.
On the upper floor, it is used in a large Material House composition almost 9m long, designed for those who, also in the office, do not forego the most precious design.
The modular structure of Modern thus becomes an interplay of forms and pastel nuances, which contrasts boxes with structures and fronts made of matt white HDS with open bays made of solid hemlock wood.
The emotional impact of natural wood also renovates the System work bookcase, presented in the version with open shelves. Compared to the home version, it is more suitable for office folders and containers thanks to the airier pitch, which envisages five modular heights every 42 cm, two different depths and four widths.
On the lower floor, the version in carbone oak with ladder and metal track with iron finish, in the warm shades of coffee, further highlights its graphic impact.
Another protagonist of working environments is the HT work system, a black anodised aluminium cage to be personalised with shelves, side panels or even spaces closed by back panels, doors and drawers, thus allowing various combinations that range from the slim, light bookcase to the accessoried furniture item for the office. Exhibited in a chessboard version with folding doors, it highlights more than ever its characteristic of airiness, a balance of signs, volumes, surfaces and transparencies.
The contrast of gloss and matt, minimum thickness and rounded edges, which soften the rigorous geometries giving visual continuity, these are the features characterising the new Fractal sectional table by Piero Lissoni. Its essential structure with L-shaped reduced section legs made of painted or brushed polished aluminium, can accommodate tops of various materials, from transparent, etched or back-painted glass to natural or painted wood, to Pral®, for a modifiable, personalizable office, more elegant and inviting.
Presented in 4 models at the centre of the first floor, in the various combinations of white and metal, (one with brushed polished aluminium structure and etched glass top and three with white painted metal structure and Pral® top), Fractal is completed by office equipment such as the vertical courtesy panel, the column for passage of cables inside the section of the leg, top access - namely a hatch in the tope of the desk for the wires of the telephone, computer and all the electrical materials present on the table - the wall-mounted drawer unit and the retractable computer tower holder.
Around Fractal are the Conch revolving chair with 4 chromed spokes and removable black fabric body and the work drawer unit on painted metal castors with painted top and front, with two or three drawers, also equipped for files and with a lock.
Enriched with new formal stimuli, on the other hand, is the Join small table by Decoma Design, available with oval top on a single stem in the form of a drop, or in the new maxi versions with two stems rounded top with ellipsis or with an organic irregularity, which enhanced the delicacy of its design.
Dominating the lower floor is the maxi variant of Synapsis, which is seven metres long, conceived for larger meeting rooms, which multiplies the magic of this interweaving of wires that is capable of supporting an imposing hemlock top.
Already experimented with last year, it enters production showing the company’s capacity to manage modular made-to-measure projects, ideally without dimensional restrictions, thanks to its base.
Proposed alongside this are the new variations of H.chair in fabric.
Comfortable and enveloping, thanks to its synthetic interior, a soft shell that curves gently, faithfully tracing the human profile, H.chair is covered with light wool, available in all the shades of the sample collection, for a reassuring meeting room with typically French chic sobriety.
Eight pieces in total, four covered in purplish blue, one in violet, one in burgundy, one in brick red and one in orange, they introduce lively, fashionable colours in the Porro office environment conceived by Piero Lissoni: even the light, filtered into the two levels of the showroom by the large windows, is tinged blue, to experience new sensations and atmospheres in the environment where you spend most of your day.
Completing the scene, refining its details, are the sinuous forms of Nouvelle Vague chaise longue softened by cushions, the Groove bench made of solid wood, the Bibliotech bookcase in the new black finish, Chiku with black painted metal inclined rods and slim black HPL tops and Load It with white shelves and offset panels and the lively new variations in scale 1: the child of the Spindle painted chair, to render less dramatic the scene and not to forget cheerfulness.
Very characterised pieces, they are aimed at those whom conceive the working environment with the same intimacy with which they experience their own home, establishing a close link with every object chosen to furnish, enrich and personalise spaces.
A need increasingly felt in both the larger and the smaller working environments, judging from the numerous office supplies highlighted by Porro in this last year.
From the supply of chairs reserved for visitors to all the branches of the HSBC Bank in France, to the use of complete compositions referable to the Homework collection in the offices of Hartl Powercrusher in St. Valentin, Austria, specialising in the production of earth-moving machinery, and in the spaces of Avelar Energy in Milan, a leading company in the sector of the distribution of energy sources.
