The company, founded in Turin in 1912 by Renzo Frau, immediately distinguished itself for the quality of its leather products. Its furnishings inspired by the Edwardian style such as the Chester sofa and the Vanity Fair and 1919 armchairs have become icons of Italian design.
Poltrona Frau is synonymous with luxury, craftsmanship and perfection. It has furnished exclusive homes, grand hotels and even the Italian Navy's luxury liner Rex. Over time the tradition of craftsmanship has evolved with the Residential, Contract and Interiors in Motion divisions, the last of which has opened up to collaborations with other major brands such as Ferrari, Bugatti and BMW and brought Poltrona Frau's luxury to high-end cars, yachts and aircraft.
