The D.156.3 armchair is designed by Gio Ponti and riedited by Molteni with structure in solid maple with glossy black finish or in natural American walnut.
Elastic ergonomic seat and back support bands in black or military green colors. Removable quilted cushion in polyurethane and polyester fiber, upholstered in fabric or leather, non-removable.
Completely removable upholstery in leather and fabric.
Designed by Gio Ponti and produced for Altamira, an American company founded by a relative of Spanish designer De Cuevas, the armchair D.156.3 was exhibited in the company’s New York showroom along with pieces by Ico Parisi, Franco Albini, Carlo De Carli, Ignazio Gardella and many others, chosen from the collection of the X Triennale di Milano.
The presentation catalogue reads: “It was thought that architecture should be purely functional, with very little margin for decoration. But the Italian genius could not help but create architecture with a more human face, which we call the Latin touch”.
