Born in Padua in 1920, Rinaldi revolutionized the furniture landscape with his distinctive pieces, becoming a reference point in the industry.
After taking over the family business, RIMA, which specialized in metal furniture, Rinaldi collaborated with design icons such as Gio Ponti, Carlo Mollino, and Marco Zanuso, producing iconic pieces that have marked the history of design. Among his most famous works are the DU30 chair, winner of the Compasso d'Oro in 1954, and the DU41 armchair, which won the silver medal at the XI Triennale di Milano in 1957.
In the 1970s, Rinaldi founded Thema, continuing to innovate with creations like the Arianna armchair and the Dafne folding chair, both nominated for the Compasso d’Oro. Some of his projects, such as the Saturno sofa, are now part of the permanent collection at the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
