The Tufty-Time 20 modular sofa is designed by Patricia Urquiola for B&B Italia with frame made of tubular steel and steel sections with padding in cold-moulded flexible Bayfit® polyurethane foam and upholstery available in fabric or leather. Back cushion filled with down and polyester fiber. Feet in black thermoplastic material. A service table in MDF, designed to be inserted between the modules, is also available.
The Tufty-Time 20 sofa by B&B Italia, designed by Patricia Urquiola, represents the contemporary evolution of the iconic Tufty-Time seating system first introduced in 2005. Twenty years after its debut, this landmark project in international design has been reinterpreted while preserving the qualities that made it so successful: modularity, enveloping comfort, and exceptional compositional freedom.
The new version introduces updated proportions, redesigned padding, and an optimized seat height to offer an even deeper and more welcoming comfort experience. Generous volumes and the distinctive quilted pattern reinterpret the classic capitonné technique in a contemporary way, giving the sofa a recognizable and refined aesthetic that enhances modern living rooms and spaces dedicated to conviviality.
A defining feature of the system is its outstanding design flexibility. The modular structure allows for linear, corner, or more articulated configurations, adapting naturally to both residential interiors and contract environments. The introduction of curved modules further expands the range of possibilities, enabling more fluid and dynamic layouts that encourage social interaction and relaxation.
Great attention has also been paid to sustainability. The Tufty-Time 20 system is fully disassemblable: each component can be separated and recovered at the end of the product’s life cycle, in line with the principles of circular design and responsible manufacturing.
