Vis-à-Vis de Gala sofa designed by Salvador Dalí is a reproduction by BD Barcelona Design, with structure in solid wood and traditional upholstery with conical springs and cinches. White cotton interior lining and natural silk cover and buttons in parma violet colour. Backrest upper trim in polished varnished cast brass.
A sofa that encourages confidence, taken from Dalí’s compositions for Jean Michel Frank. A typical surreal interpretation of a piece of furniture extremely bourgeois and conventional. This piece carries the appearance of human elements - a feminine hand, one with a jewel and another masculine one with a watch - embracing those seated.
Also available in the Black Label Limited Edition with black crep satin 100% polyester cover and black patina for the brass details.
During the '30s in Paris, Salvador Dalí sorrounded himself with a circle of friends involved in the application of art to varied disciplines, above and beyond the study of pure pictorial art. Jean-Michel Frank, a furniture maker and decorator of recognized prestige in the Paris of those years, was on very good terms with Dalí and together they worked on several ideas.
In the 1990s a group of experts, led by Oscar Tusquets, set themselves the task of turning the furniture Dalí had drawn for Jean-Michel Frank into reality. BD Barcelona Design organised production and exclusive world marketing, guaranteed by The Gala Salvador Dali Foundation responsible for the painter’s rights.
